Why go underground?

How a conversion works
- Send us two photos. One of your meter box and one of the power line from the street to your house.
- Site check. We plan the route from the pole to your meter box, and the best way past driveways and paths.
- Fixed written quote. The trench, the conduit and cable, any meter box work, the network paperwork, and how long the power will be off.
- Install. We lay the conduit and cable underground and prepare the connections.
- Changeover. We connect the new underground mains, disconnect and remove the old overhead line, and give you the compliance certificate. We notify the network when the work requires it.

If your mains are old or too small, going underground replaces them at the same time, in one job and one power outage.
What affects the price
Every property is different, so we give a fixed written quote after a site check. These are the things that move the price:
- Distance. How far the meter box is from the pole.
- The route. Lawn and garden are simpler than concrete, pavers or driveways. Where possible, cable is bored under driveways and paths instead of cutting through them.
- Your meter box. Whether it can stay, needs moving, or needs replacing.
- Network requirements. Some conversions need network approval or work at the pole.
